I've read you can use heat shrink cables for your bikes cables which are cheap and readily available at electrician hardware stores.
Anyone done this before? Good results?!

So you want to add weight to you bike?
They do not tend to have a gloss finish so dirty up fast."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

Not done it, but I know heat-shrink cable won't survive too much abuse. The weight would be insignificant, but you would probably have to re-do the cabling fairly regularly as it will start to look tatty. And the only reason for doing it is for the looks.
I would just get some coloured outers in the first place. Clarks do a variety of colours for about a tenner on CRC. They'll withstand use well enough, and it's not much more than getting basic black outers and faffing around with heatshrink.0 -
Jagwire coloured outers off ebay, do the bike for about £6 with fresh sealed end caps as well.
can't see the point of heatshrink as it will cost almost as much as new outers without the benefit if new outers!Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.0 -
Heat shrink are great - but don't use with the brake cablesif you are doing downhill on a long and steep descent in Kuwait!!!...take your pickelf on your holibobs....
