Hi All,

i have a Focus Cayo 2011 Ltd.
The bottom bracket has got creaky after a couple of thousand miles of all weather use,

I have the FSA chainrings and BB on the front and was thinking of upgrading.

Will ultegra 6700 work ok with my 105 5700 shifters cassette and chain etc?
i was thinking of upgrading as i replace and maybe putting the 105 cassette on a turbo wheel and upgarding the Cayo to ultegra.
The ratio is 12-27 but have seen 11-28, is there any negative reasons for not increasing the range of available gears?

Thanks in advance

Matt

    that will work fine,

no problem with using the ultegra 11-28 although obviously the jump between the gears will be slightly larger but you probably wont notice, I'd only upgrage cassette when you need to, the only realy difference is a few grammes of weight

Going from 12-27 to 11-28 will give you a wider range at the expense of couple of bigger jumps between gears. You sure you need an 11 tooth sprocket?

Make sure you use the 11t lockring that should come with the cassette. If you use a 12t lockring with an 11t sprocket the chain will foul the lockring.

you only need a hollowtech bb if you are fitting a shimano chainset. (or other 24 mm axled chainset)

The intention was to change the chainset, but i'm aware that Shimano do not do a BB30.

What a pain in the a*se
