I'm currently building up a Scapin Ivor with all Italian components, and just wanted to share my experience of buying parts as cheaply as possible.
I've managed to source a full Campagnolo Super record group set for €1500 which at the time of purchase was £1200- a full £250 less than shinybikes.com.
My Marchisio wheels should be £2000 but I've also managed to source them for €1250- and my Scapin Ivor frame was €1900 whereas in the UK the price would be £3000.
I've managed all this through sourcing through Italian companies I'd so thought I'd let the forum know if they wanted to do a similar build to enquire to Italian companies for Italian components.
For reference I used- chierici cycles- who are great ad Christian who runs it out of Parma is a gent and I also used cicli andreis who are based in north Italy too- they supply Scapin parts.
Also recommended for tubular wheels are spada wheels these are hand made wheels by mr spada, who again is a gent- and will answer anything about the wheels.

Paul_Wirral- for some reason mate i can't contact you via PM- Scapin Ivor is a 2012 model the Etika is from 2008 (I think), both look incredible- and i was in 2 minds which one to get. The Etika is out and out racer, whereas the Ivor is a bit of everything and so thats why I chose it.
I have to say I was blown away by the finishing of Scapin, their attention to detail is fabulous and they are SO Italian- the seat stay on my Ivor weighs in at nearly as much as the frame (it seems like that), its purely design over function- yet it functions brilliantly!!! Whichever you get you won't be disappointed- and not many people have purely hand made, Italian design and manufactured bikes anymore and Scapins are rare- so enjoy!

Ah - you have only just joined so cant PM yet Tb.

I was talking to Poshbikes about both frames as well as a couple of other options including Storck. I've got a full on race bike already and so am after something of an all-rounder (doing long distance holidays annually over on the continent) and so the Ivor sounds the better option. The geometry looks perfect for me in the Medium size and i really fancy going to Campag EPS. I've always loved the looks of the Scapin's and as you say - superb attention to detail (fell in love with the Hysak).

Yes the Hysak was special, apparently the Etika and Ivor are even better, which sounds incredible. Email cicliandreis- they can be a bit slow to reply but are honest and i've had around no issues transferring large amounts of money to them. They can build up any Scapin bike for you with whatever you like on it- but are easily cheaper than any bike company over here and the service is decent.

Wirral_paul- the Ivor is custom made, send the company your measurements and they will adapt the frame to fit, also you can choose the frame number and have it personalised with your name- I don't whether shinybikes told you that. This all can be done at the price quoted by cicli andreis, I also sent my measurements to Scapin directly so no mistakes were made
