I've had my first set of SPD-SL pedals and cleats for a bout a week now, they were bought second hand but I was told they were not used much. But I found this had happened this morning on my way to work? Is it new cleat time or would a bit of superglue to the job?

I doubt superglue is going to hold that. Get a new set of cleats.

That bit doesn't engage with the pedal, it's just for walking... if you don't walk on them, you can keep it

I have about a 20metre walk from the bike shed to the office, and when i get home it is only to put the bike in the passage so all of 3 or 4metres.

I cycle all the way to my office door since they have installed an automatic main door in the building... it's great!

My cleats have one of those left (over both cleats) and they still walk fine, They're just things to walk on.

I've glued it back on and it looks pretty solid. But the lad I bought them off has ordered me some replacements from wiggle which is above and beyond.
  • you CAN get cleat covers for them, not many people stock them but they are about 17 quid and theyll usually order them in for you

U can lose all the yellow bits and Shimano spd sL cleats still work fine. The bits that clip in are well protected.

Been riding my sons cast offs for a number of years :-)
