The Cannondale Synapse Hi Mod seems to be getting rave reviews. If you can push it up to 2800 you could get the Ultegra version of that

Any thoughts on the Canyon Ultimate cf ?

Focus Izalco Pro Di2, see them in the Tour (yes the exact same frame). Excellent value bikes from a dealer network.
You might even have some cash left for a wheel upgrade.
  • The Cannondale Synapse Hi Mod is probably the best suggestion on this thread.
I'm sorry you don't believe in miracles

Looks to be the same one to me. I'd say you've found your bike, assuming it's a reliable place to buy from. Seems like great value based on the BR review

That price is pretty unbeatable... it's a top bike.. I race mine and although mine is 4 years old I dont think I will part with it. Nice to see they have dumped the naff aero seatpost in favour of a standard 27.2 round one.
I need that adapter they have used as the seat tube is same profile.

Do you know if that adapter for the seatpost is available then as this would be great for any future upgrades or for trying different seatposts on this one

I know it's not the hi mod version but still a damn good bike for the price and looks like the supplied wheels are decent too.

I am aware the 2014 (next) incarnation of the hi-mod Synapse has just received a great review on bike radar and is a complete rework of the previous incarnation ( which I remember getting not so great reviews):

You may want to hold out for that model, however:

At that price it is a bargain.

If I was you I would make sure I try the Synapse out before I buy - you may find that it is no better for you then the Trek you have.
  • My as new Cervelo RS Dura-Ace... if you take a size 58cm.

If it is for sportives then the Trek Domane or Spesh Roubaix will be spot on. The Canyon could be a bit too racy & aggressive for what you want, although it is a quality bike, but you are taking a risk with set up as you cannot see it or sit on one before you buy.

Go for the Domane or Roubaix, they will get you round in comfort & will cope well with climbs, good handling too. Sometimes the sexier looking bikes are not always the best for what you want!

Seems I need to do some more research then.

I bought my Trek new last Summer and just fancy something nicer, for no other reason than I fancy something nicer.

Van Nicholas ventus, kitted out with ultegra and ksyriums probably comes in at around that. That's where my money would go.

I might just get this & upgrade to some really fancy wheels. You'd still have plenty of change. The Ti Van Nic looks like a plan too.

Tifosi CK2 is another option. Have it built up with Campag Centaur or Athena for your budget, this would be one capable bike for all weathers.

Dr Cannondale is a source of Cannondale spare parts, but I got my CAAD10 frameset from Westbrook Cycles, might be an idea to give them a call.
I shall use my aero one until I snap the fugly thing off one day.

I recently bought a 2012 Synapse frame and have started to build it up. I have cut the forks and put most things on it, just waiting for the crank to arrive and then last job will be to cut the seat post, which I don't like the idea of. So whilst waiting for the crank, I bought the new 2013 Synapse seat clamp from Dr Cannondale to try on my 2012 Synapse with a standard FSA 27.2 seat post. It fits the frame but not a standard 27.2 seat post unfortunately. There looks to be quite a gap between the clamp and standard post, so presume on a 2013 bike the alloy inner on the Synapse frame is round or partly round and comes up to the top of the inside of the clamp, rather than being all aero and just coming half way up on the 2012 clamp. It may be possible for someone to make a small alloy insert but it's beyond me. Anyway worth a try as would have been nice if it had worked.
