2012 Scott S50 - upgrade groupset to Ultegra?
Hi there!
Brand new to the forum so forgive me if this is a daft question.
I bought my first road bike 6 months ago - a 2012 Scott S50:

I've the opportunity to inherit a complete Ultegra groupset (10-speed triple) at a great price. Can it simply be a direct replacement for the existing 8-speed group set or are there other considerations?
Thanks in advance.

As long as you are getting shifters in that group set then all is well.
The front and rear mechs will work regardless.
Simply swap everything over and jobs a good un.
You will need a 10 speed chain and cassette too.Yellow is the new Black.0 -

Are you getting a bottom bracket too? Depending on what generation Ultegra it is, it may take a different BB to your existing chainset.0

BB would be included too, MajorMantra.
As tempting as it was I'm going to hold out for a new bike in 6-12 months time and relegate the S50 to a winter bike. Doesn't make sense to spec it as high as Ultegra in that case.
Cheers for the responses.0 -
I fear you have not grasped this cycling lark properly...of course the winter bike needs Ultegra, mine has :-)Yellow is the new Black.0
