Hi All,
This is my first post and I am after some help....
I have just ordered some Fulcrum Racing 1's and take dilivery of them in 10 days and was looking to get some reviews/thoughts/opinions to what they are like (bit late i know :? ). The 2013 wheel set reviews for them are pretty thin on the ground?
I have a Cube GTC agree race with the EA30 custom wheels and I am hoping the Fulcrums will make a big difference?
Any help will be greatly appreciated
Thanks
James

They will be great. Fulcrum make good wheels, just don't expect them to make you into a pro standard rider overnight. I expect they will be lighter and stiffer than your eastons which might give you a feeling of quicker acceleration and easier climbing effort. Enjoy them and keep riding.0

Thanks. I am hoping they will help me climb a little easier, I have a C2C in June...150 miles in a day through hardknott pass...Looking at their respective weights they should shed 600 grams of my bike!Best - Cube Litening Super HPC

Wills, I'd be interested to know how you get on, I have the same bike and a wheel upgrade is a logical step. Can you send me a link to the wheels you have bought please?Trainer Road Blog: https://hitthesweetspot.home.blog/

Fulcrum are owned and made by Campag, that's worth an extra mph :-)
I've never had to true a Campag/Fulcrum wheel ever, so they should be good.
Enjoy. 8)0 -
You'll need more than Fulcrum R1s to get up Hardknott without stopping - one of the toughest climbs in the UK! And if you are going through Hardknott you will no doubt follow it or precede it with Wrynose - enjoy0

On a climb like Hardknott equipment doesn't really help... you have the same chances of getting up it on a 6Kg bike as you have with a 20 Kg bike, provided appropriate gearing.left the forum March 20230 -

Quite. I had to get off and push whilst on a lightweight carbon bike (admittedly this was on The Fred so I feel no guilt!) whilst I pootled up both quite happily on a heavy, steel framed hardtail MTB.Faster than a tent.......0 -
I used to have R1 Two Way Fits from 2010/ Great wheels, but...
I hit an unmortared cobble on the rumble strips in Richmond Park which put a dent in both rims. The Park paid up to cover the repairs, but it was 12 weeks to get replacements from Fulcrum and then have them repaired. The repairs were made by i-Ride (the UK distributor) because my LBS didn't have specialist tools needed to get the nipples in place.

I have never stopped on a climb yet but then again I have never been up 30%. I am hoping as it is only 12miles in I will be fresh. I have got myself a 11-28 cassette and my bike has a compact so fingers crossed. I have heard about The Fred and its defo on my to do list but it must be hell doing that after 100miles!!Best - Cube Litening Super HPC

I have a set of fulcrum racing 1's the ltd edition black ones and I think they are cracking wheels, one of the best sets of wheels I have ever owned.
they are very stiff, never flexed either will and feel nimble. definitely a good buy in my opinion
enjoy them0 -

I got them through a friend who owns a bike shop and it works out at £500. I thought I was getting a really good deal until you have just told me Merlin are doing them for £539! I would get them! Good priceBest - Cube Litening Super HPC

Well, I'm 92kg and smashed my set of 1s over the cobbles of the Paris Roubaix challenge. They coped well and came through unscathed. Highly recommended.0 -
if buying through merlin sign up to qudico.co.uk and go via quidco for 3% cashback.
it all adds up as they say0 -
I recently got a set of the ltd edition competition versions of these wheels from PBK who were selling them off cheaply (as they are 2012 10 speed only).
I've also got dura ace c24s on my other bike.
Yes the c24s are a little lighter, but I can't really tell the difference as they both spin up quickly and feel great on the road0 -

Honestly, i've never had to change the bearings and the wheels are as true as they were when i first put them on the bike.
I am 75kg and you get a good comfy ride, the wheels feel solid, as i said no problems......so far....0 -
My dad recently got some from Merlin in the sale, following my advice. Awesome wheels - they've completely transformed his bike and now I have to train more to keep up with him!
