Dear All

Newbie to all this. Have a Ribble Winter Audax Veloce - really pleased with it as a winter/commuter bike. Fitted a rack and also happy with (very) light touring on it.

I want a steel Veloce (or 105) spec sportier bike for my next n+1 purchase - something along the lines of the Genesis Equilibrium 20. Anyone got any opinions on a good buy meeting this criteria - ideally sub £1000 so obtainable on cycle scheme. Thanks for any help.

Cheers, Simon

I wouldn't say that the Equilibrium is any sportier than the Ribble. Likely a nicer ride, but quite well suited to the kind of riding you're already doing on the Ribble, so I would see it more as a replacement than an n+1.

If you want something like the Equilibrium but with Veloce, why not buy a frameset and switch over the kit from the Ribble? You could then sell the Ribble frameset and buy a new sportier bike if you wanted, sort of an n+2-1. :)

I don't think the Genesis is much more sporty really. Not enough to justify a change IMO. Why not keep the Ribble as a winter tainer / light tourer and get a 2nd more sporty bike eg a Sensa from Merlin. Or just keep the Ribble and get some lighter wheels?
