Hi All

Got a Carbon FSR Carbon Comp full suspension BUT want to build a plain 18", 16" wheel MTB rigid bike as light as possible.

Notice this site recommends this bike sub £500 -

I could ditch forks for carbon rigid type or should i try to source a carbon frame and do a complete build ?

How much lighter would a self build be ?

How much does an average 18" carbon frame weigh (seen some forks at 800g)

Anyone recommend ?

Cheers

Around £500, do not want suspension at all.

Not sure what you actually want to do? £500 doesn't get you a lot in self build terms of Light, that will get you a full xt group and some forks.

Is your £500 for the frame or the whole bike?

For £500, you will struggle to do a really light bike if working with new parts.

Mine (link to the Kraken in sig) is now coming in at just under 10.5Kg (need to update the thread when I've finished the latest bits) and cost about £530, but very little is new.
Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.
