Derailleur advice

Basically my mech hanger snapped on a ride and cos this bike is a fair age and doesn't seem to have had much love from its previous owner part of the derailleur snapped. Ive replaced the hanger but not sure what to do with the derailleur as i'm not sure i can fix the bit that is broken. Would just like to get some advice on how to sort the problem out or a recommendation of a compatible and reasonable priced substitute.

Bike is a 9 speed, 52-42-30 on front and 25-13 on back

You should be able to find xenon or mirage rd on eBay for not much money, £15-£20.

FWIW, it doesn't look broken at all to me.

If you look at where you connect the derailleur to the mech hanger there should be a piece of metal at the top of the nut in the picture that stops the derailleur rotating round and hitting the chain stay.

Sorry, you're right, I can see it now I've had a coffee!

Like another poster says, you can pick up one of these mechs for peanuts.

But don't bin the old one as next time you have a mechanical on the rd it will be something different that breaks!

PS - there's always something infinitely sad about any picture of a bike with the chain hanging forlornly on the floor!
