Hi

I'm looking through the back end of the sales to see what value for money I can get for a road bike at around £1k.

I've seen this Giant TCR Comp 2 for £1049 and has Ultegra groupset. Not much else for that price around the net.

I've read the frame not being as good as the next Giant range up from this but would it really make that much difference if I can get Ultegra????

any thoughts/advice or other decent offers would be welcome.

thanks

I'm 5'11 so would need to check if the M or ML is a better fit. The link above is for an ML, I've seen the M at £50 dearer at onyourbike cycles.
  • It doesn't really have an Ultegra groupset, it has Ultegra shifters and rear derailleur, 105 front derailleur and a mix of Tiagra and non series parts make up the rest. Everything Shimano makes is pretty good, and the frame is very good for the price, but don't be fooled into thinking you're getting a great deal on the groupset, it's about right for the price. When I buy, the priorities go: frame, wheels, groupset, finishing kit. But that's just one man's preference

    Hi

My description of groupset was exaggerated, yes. My current bike is mainly 105 so would still be an upgrade for me. I just havent seen anything with better than a 105 for that price new. Obviously there are bikes on ebay but that can be a lottery at times.

Anything else out there that folks have seen?
