Problem exporting .gpx from mapmyride - anyone else use it?

I plan out routes on mapmyride, then export a .gpx file and import that in Cyclemeter on my phone. I then use it for navigation when I'm out.
This has always worked so far but I've only mapped rides up to about 30 miles.
I've just plotted a 35 mile route and the .gpx file is wrong. The file size for it is too small (it's a lot smaller than those for shorter routes) and when I import it the route isn't following the roads correctly in Cyclemeter. It's sort of vaguely right but the route line meanders about vaguely near the correct roads then sweeps round in bends rather than going up to a junction and turning left or whatever.
Has anyone else ever encountered this? I contacted Cyclemeter support and sent them a working .gpx file from mapmyride and a broken one. Cyclemeter has been updated this week so I thought the problem was on their end. They tested the .gpx files in the ridewithgps site though and the gammy one doesn't work there either, so it seems to be a problem with the export facility on mapmyride.
I've contacted mapmyride support but I'm not sure if they'll get back to me before the weekend, so I just wondered if anyone else had encountered this and knew how to resolve it.
I could of course navigate the old-fashioned way with my O/S map, but that means more stops to check the map.

I often use gpsies.com to upload files from different formats and download as gpx tracks to work with my Garmin. This solves some problems I have had with various mapping sites output.0

I'll have a look at that... If I can't get this working I'll have to try another site that lets you draw a map online and export as a .gpx. The one thing Cyclemeter doesn't do is let you plan a route in advance.0

You can get Garmin Mapsource for free and use it with Open Source mapping from talkytoaster - you may need to get Garmin Training Centre (also free) to let you download Map Source. (You can plan courses in Training Centre, but Mapsource is nicer, and you use it to put the maps on your device).0

Or give ridewithgps.com a try. Works perfect for me with my Garmin 8000

Thanks both. I'll try ridewithgps if I can't get mapmyride working. Irritating as all my maps to date are in mapmyride (though as their export works I could import them to ridewithgps I suppose!).
The husband also has instructions for accessing my mapmyride account - I tell him what route I'm doing, what time I start and what time I expect to be home. In case I fall off and knock myself out somewhere remote.0 -

mapmyride replied - they're "aware of issues" with the GPX export but don't currently have a timescale for fixing it.
ridewithgps here I come.0 -

What about to a Bryton? Anyone have a good one for that?
Not sure, have a go. It seems to be the most accurate siteCube Attain SL Disc

Exported a GPX from ridewithgps to the Cyclemeter app last night and it worked just fine. If Bryton accepts GPX files then my guess would be it'd work...0 -
Bryton does GPX an TCX (and others I think). According to Bryton I need to use one or the other depending on the requirements, but I do not understand what the difference is and why.
If I upload a saved ride from my Bryton to the BrytonBridge Website it comes in as a GPX, so does that mean if I go the other way it needs to be a TCX?
All very confusing.Yellow is the new Black.0 -
Very annoyingly I am having similar problems exporting GPX from mapmyride. The files are tiny and just seem to continue a handful of waypoints and not a proper route.
However, you can 'solve' this by exporting as KML and then using http://www.gpsies.com/ to convert to a TCX and upload that. It's a pain but works okay for me.0
