Campag cassette

I currently have a Campag Veloce compact(50/34) with a 12-25 cassette. I find myself running out of gears on the longer and steeper hills in the area and find some of the gears are quite "samey". This may be because I am used to mountain bike gearing.
I would like to increase the range of gears and one option would be to go for a 13-29, but I'm a bit reluctant to lose the top end on my current set-up (12). What I want to know, therefore is, if it is possible to mix and match 2 cassettes to end up with, effectively a 12-29? I understand that Campagnolo have individual sprockets, so in my mind this should be possible, but I don't know if there are any limitations and appreciate that there would be bigger jumps in perhaps the middle gears.
You help would be much appreciated.

It might work but you're right on the limit of your drivetrain capacity because the rear mech can only take up so much slack in the chain. Likely means that you need to stay off small chainring and sprocket combos.
The simpler solution is practise pedalling faster.Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..0 -
Thanks, Monty Dog and you're right about the pedalling bit. Not sure what sprockets make up the 13-29, so may try something like a 12-27 and see how that goes. I have the Exmoor Beauty in a couple of weeks, which will be a real test of my climbing, so need to get the mix right before then.
I was interested to see you live in Fleet, as I used to live on Kings Road and went to school at Velmead before moving down to Devon.
Thanks again for your help.Pride and joy: Bianchi Sempre

Miche do a 12-29 10-speed campag-spline compatible cassette. Bought one for the Cheshire Cat. Works fine with my 50-34 compact front and a standard small-cage rear mech. Of course, there may be issues regarding capacity on another bike, depends on the frame - but for an individual ride, you could set it up so that big-big was fine and then just avoid the small-small combination if there was such an issue.
There may be issues with mix-and-matching different campag cassettes as they are specifically ramped and putting odd sprocket combinations together could mean less than perfect shifting.0 -
Campag do a 12/29 which fits on my 2012 chorus with a bit of adjustment0

Campag now do (after many years) 10 speed 12-27 and 12-30 Centaur cassettes.0
