garmin edge 500 sensors

hi all been using edge 500 now for a while and found it fantastic. but still cant get used to the flitting up and down on speed am running on gps only.do you lads use sensors or just gps. plus i i got three bikes two road one cyclocross. can you have differant tyre sizes on sensors

    I have 3 bikes 2 road 1 mtb and have the speed cadence sensor on both road bikes, I don't see the point of having accurate speed and cadence on an off road bike. The speed cadence sensor will set itself up so you don't need to worry about tyre sizes.
