Anyone else ever had braces?

I got braces on wednesday and so far its been a living hell...ive been living off lentil soup, porridge and smoothies for the last 2 weeks (because i had spacers before the braces).
I can barely chew anything because all of my teeth ache, and every time i do bite down my top teeth push or smash down on my bottom brace and it feels like someone is punching you in the face every time you bite down...its a living hell...
My tongue is all cut down one side already and its been 2 days... the wax you use to stop the cutting melts every time i have soup and im starting to run out.
Has anyone else ever had braces and can tell me how long it takes for all the pain to go?
What else did you "consume"? (eating is very inefficient as half of the food gets stuck in your braces and it hurts like hell)
How long does it take to get used to?

Give it a week and you'll be fine, your teeth and their ligaments and the muscles associated with the mouth are just very used to how it was so it takes a bit of time to adapt. I had the same problems when I had my braces from what I can remember, it was getting on for 10 years ago now which is rather scary
If eating is painful then soft food is best, slightly overdone pasta, mashed potatoes, rice... anything big that's going to need lots of chewing just cut up a bit smaller. Better to actually start trying to eat though, it'll just take longer to get used to if you don't.
As for food getting stuck in braces, yeah that happens, brush it out.

Thanks for that Ill MTFU a bit more0

Oh dear. Do you know what those things are that are holding up his trousers? They're called braces.
The alternative (and more common method) of holding up ones trousers is a belt.0 -

The wax off Edam/babybell cheeses works better than the expensive stuff they sell, doesn't melt as readily.
For mouth ulcers you can get a steriod pellet, hurts like fack, but heals much faster - you takes your choice!
Had braces as a kid and 3 kids who all had them as well, the 'denture style' are bad, traintracks can be Meuder!Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.0 -
Ive got the trainstracks
Everything feels absolutely fine now, normal eating routines and no more cuts, but just have to watch out on biting down on things too hard. Obviously no sticky things and ive swapped chewing gum for Polos now.
That Edam/Babybell technique sounds really really smart i must say! Shame i didnt know about that at the time. I gave up on the wax eventually since it was pretty much useless cause it hurt the most when i ate and the wax fell off when i ate.
Thanks for that anyway, eventhough everything is all good
Gotta rate that babybell idea, genious!0 -
Just wait until they get tightened, you'll feel like you're back to square one.
Stick with it though, I had full braces for a couple of years and am always getting told how good my teeth look.
Oh, fruit gums will pull out the rings around your back teeth!Advocate of disc brakes.0 -

B0llocks...haha. Thanks for the warning.
I know its definitely gonna be worth it in the long term so im not even thinking about getting them removed. I dont wanna have bent teeth when im older obviosuly.
Definitely staying away from sticky foods/sweets0 -
