Old style shoes for clips & straps?

I wonder if anyone can help - my Dad's shoes have just given up the ghost, the strap has gone and he needs to replace them. They're old style Sidis - for toe clips & straps. They have a plate on the sole with a ridge across ... Is it still possible to buy these type of shoes? If not, is there an adapter or something you can get for a modern shoe? He's in his early 70s & is reluctant to go clipless unless he really has to!

Any advice much appreciated
