Hollow rear wheel axle.

The rear wheel axle's snapped on my Raleigh Record Sprint and it measures 130mm x 9mm, but looking around the sites ebay etc, there doesn't seem to be this size about. Is it the done thing to cut one down or get a 10mm or ...
Any advice would be welcome thanks.

    Cut one down, it is very easy... If it is only 5-10 mm, you can file it down

    Ok thanks. What about the width of it ..9mm. Is it alright to get a !0mm as there seems to be loads of room.
