looking at a new bike, undecided which one.....

Bianchi sempre pro or Trek Madone 4.7 C H2

I'm leaning towards the Bianchi but i think i'm being swayed by the look rather than the spec - what would you advise?

The Sempre has a very good spec. Not sure exactly which one you mean as there are a few different to choose from. It is one of only a few Bianchis that come with a good all round set up from purchase. Lower in the range can have some 2nd rate finishing kit and wheels. The Madone is also a very very good bike (Can taste vomit in my mouth just saying that) but I think they just look sooooo dull.

Which Sempre pro spec were you looking at to compare with the Madone? If its a Shimano one then you are dead to me, but the SRAM and Campy ones and excellent if a little more pricy.
  • Agreed.

We need an apples to apples comparo... what group Sempre Pro?

Campagnolo Chorus. Nothing else deserves to touch it.
  • Whether UK or US, that's a Dura-Ace priced build for that bike and I don't think the Madone 4.2 is in the same price scale.

Is your question, which frame is a better choice?

You lost me with that last one sickboybike. What you mean Dura-Ace priced? Which?
  • Typically Chorus 11spd is retailed around the cost of Dura-Ace depending on your exchange rate of currency. The Madone 4.7 tops out w/Ultegra parts. That's not an even comparison- Ultegra to Chorus.

You can get a sempre with chorus groupsets for around 2300 pounds. Considering the trek is around 2100ish I think it's a good comparison.

Just a shame Bianchi decide to swap for Chorus crankset for the FSA Gossamer..

Unless a chorus crank cost more than a grand, I reckon it's a good deal!
  • It's worth a test ride on both bikes as their geometry is different between the two.

The Trek has a longer chainstay, steeper headtube angle, lower bottom bracket drop and less rake on the fork.

    American image, European image.

    Ride, decide.
