Ultegra 6700 LH (fd) Shifter sticking
The shifter is sticking when the lever is pressed to shift onto the big ring when it should automatically return to normal position.
New Cable installed.
it is not a 'routing' issue as it does the same when cables in place or not.
I have lubricated as much as I can the shifter in situ.
Normal Position
After shifting and stuck
The shifting works but is just not sweet and requires a fair amount of force.
To return the main lever I have to depress the little lever and push the main lever back manually.
Is it basically a broken shifter?
I could remove the shifter and soak in diesel if that might help.

Where did you buy it? is it under warranty? if so return it.
The diesel sounds interesting!0 -
The bike is into its 4th year.. to be frank I have never been so underwhelmed by a groupset as the 6700. The front rh shifter indeed did break after a year which was done 'under warranty' .. the bike shop is sponsor of my club.
I was just wondering if anyone else had encountered same problem.
My trusty race bike has been in some filthy weather this winter so I am possibly not surprised at probably wear and tear inside the mechanism despite my very zealous cleaning regime - the bike lives indoors mainly on the turbo.
(diesel is a cure all )
i really do want to spare the expense of 130 quid, cheapest I 've found for a replacement shifter..0 -
Just an update...
to recap
cable new, outer new
no kink in cabling at shifter end, routed correctly under bb
shifter cleaned and cleaned again..
still the larger shifter will not self return as it should.
Conclusion - shifter has had its day ...
( did a search on here and some others have had same issue - the shifters are 1st generation 6700, presumably they have gotten better)0
