I have an Addict r2 but have the chance to get a Cevelo r3sl 2009 frameset at a good price and then swap over the group set from the Addict, just wondering if I will notice much of a difference?.

Errr... it's pretty much a lateral move in terms of weight and stiffness. Personally I don't see an advantage, but if you prefer the Cervelo and want something new then why not.English Cycles V3 | Cervelo P5 | Cervelo T4 | Trek Domane Koppenberg0

I went the other way, from a Cervelo R3 to an Addict RC.
I prefer the RC. I find it much stiffer and just as comfortable.***** Pro Tour Pundit Champion 2020, 2018, 2017 & 2011 *****0 -
Looks like I'm sticking with the r2, just an itch I had to scratch.Cervelo S5 Team 2012

Hi golfergmc,
I was intrigued to read your post as I am on the lookout for an R3 or R3SL frameset. If the person who was offering it still has it, I would be very interested, depending on size, price, condition etc.
If you could put me in touch or drop me a PM with some details I'd be very grateful.
Thanks,0 -
This is still eating away at me, I don't race and have no intention to start and I'm thinking the r3sl may be more comfortable than the addict, the guys in the shop said this also and they all use cervelo even though they have there choice of frames including Scott , pino, Ridley, look etc. Bottom line is will I notice ny difference with the cervelo, also does anyone know why the 08/09/10 frames were in around £2800 and the 11/12 r3 frames are around £1800, is there any difference in the carbon etc.Cervelo S5 Team 2012

Not entirely sure of the difference but back in 08/09 Cervelo only made the RS, R3 and the R3-SL in the R range. This has now split into two models, the R3 and R5, each with sub models. From what I understand the base R3 is a cheaper lay-up/carbon than the old R3 and the Team is now at the old R3 level. The old SL has been replaced by the R5 which comes in 3 models? Again varying lay up and carbon to save weight whilst retaining stiffness. I think the RS has been dropped and the R3 and R5 head tube lenghthend to suit current trends of steeper stems/ stiffer front ends whilst also offering a more upright position if required.
So basically Cervelo have widened the R series range in order to appeal to more riders whilst appearing to keep to a similar/same molds to save costs. Or so it would appear.0 -
I am still really thinking of buying a cervelo and have been looking at the s5 base model and need to know if this will be much of an upgrade from the addict r2 or I am spending a lot of money for not that much in return. Would I be better buying the s5 or upgrading my wheels to a set of zipp 404 carbon clinchers.Cervelo S5 Team 2012

The 2008 R3-SL is an iconic frame and remained the same, except for the graphics until 2011. Of course you'll be wasting your money if you change or buy Zipps, that's what its all about.Pegoretti
