Shimano compatibility

Hi all.
I'm new to the forum and relatively new to cycling so please excuse any ignorance that shines through!
I recently bought a fixer-upper 2012 Viking Milano (the guy was in a crash with it)
The damage was confined to the left shimano triple shifter and the front derailleur as well as some minor scratches to the frame.
I'm looking to rebuild the gears on a budget and have found some spares on eBay but I am not sure if they are compatible. The bike has a seven speed rear cassette and a triple chain ring at the front. I replaced the chain with a 7/8 speed chain and I am looking to install a new front derailleur and shifter.
I can lay my hands on a Shimano Tiagra ST-4400 shifter and a Shimano FD-2300 front derailleur, but I'm not sure if they are compatible with each other and the rear cassette and chain.
Any advice/guidance would be much appreciated. Thanks.
