I have just replaced a Tiagra 4500 to a Ultegra 6600 rear mech. I now get terrible chain clatter in the 11 tooth cog on a 25-11 cassette , with a 25-12 no problems at all on the 12 tooth cog. The mech is a medium cage. I shortened the chain, adjusted the tension screw and the limit screw but no joy. The mech is supposed to cope with 11 teeth.

Are you using the 11t lockring? A 12t lockring would prevent the chain from fully engaging the 11t sprocket teeth.

why did you shorten the chain?

no need to adjust the B tension screw.

and often the stops dont need adjusting.

    what was the new cassette?
