Can someone help me with what bb to get

I have a pinarello fp4:13 it needs a Italian thread bb
And I have sram force crank . I bought a bb Italian thread but the crank spindle doesn't fit the bottom bracket cups it says that the cups are 30mm ... I bought a sram gxp bb is there different ones?

Pinarello fp4:13 frame
Sram force crank
???????????? Bottom bracket

Hope this made sense

Cheers si

    which force crank?

do the cups it the frame?

and as normal pictures of what you actually have.

and i guess the axle of the crank is too big for the BB?

There are two types of Force crankset - GXP with a steel spindle, 24mm stepping down to 22mm or BB30/PF30 which uses an alumnium spindle 30mm in diameter.
If your frame needs threaded cups the BB30/PF30 simply won't fit.
Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..

You need a correct crankset or a different frame.

Any crank with a GXP fitting. As you have already bought the BB.

The only bb that I know of that fits a 30mm crank into a threaded frame is made by Rotor. However they don't make one for Italian thread (probably because not many brands use Italian thread due to its poorer design). I'm afraid its a new crank or a custom machined cup that a 30mm id bearing presses into and gives the correct spacing (not economically viable and will void frame and crank warranty).

Zipp Vuma was a 30mm crank that fitted a threaded frame. The BB is similar to the rotor one I mentioned above. I don't believe they make a chain set anymore but they did do an IT fit. Found a couple in stock. However its worth noting they say only compatible with Zipp cranks. There are pics of them fitted to other chainsets though!

This is probably a no go but it might be worth you investigating it.

Understood .... So where do I go from here as this is the only thing stoping me from completing my build is it a case of a new crank? Even tho I have a sram force group set?

I'm afraid it seems like it is.

Sram force GXP crank will fit (with the bb you currently have). Same as what you have but a smaller axle. If its new can you exchange it?

There are lots of other cranks that will fit as long as there is an IT compatible bb for it.

well as long as its 10spd Shimano/Sram compatible it will work. Personally I'd find a Sram force GXP one as it will suit the rest of the groupset, its light and stiff. Its the same as what you currently have but with a smaller diameter steel axle bonded to it as opposed to the 30mm Alu one you have.

Or FSA SLK- light gets well reviewed. However you will need bb to suit.

If your on a budget then any Sram chainset that is GXP will fit. GXP is Srams take on a hollow axle that fits almost any frame. It is 24mm one end and 22mm dia the other. It fits Sram GXP bb's and can be fitted to some Shimano hollow tech 2 compatible bb's with an adapter.

Make sure that its Italian bb compatible this can be checked by making sure the bb for it comes in italian thread (70mm as opposed to BSA 68mm). The correct length and has the correct bcd you require (If you need a chainring smaller than 39t go for a compact (110bcd)).

Make sure you stay clear of anything only suited to BB30, PF30 ect as these modern 30mm axles are not compatible with Italian threaded frames.

If your unsure if its compatible post link up here and I'm sure we can advise.

This is the same as you currently have but the correct axle type. It is last years model but only real difference is grey as opposed to black chainrings. Only option you need to check is length, can't help you on that as its a personal thing. Best bet is to took at what your current bike has and run the same if that gives you no issues. It is usually written on back of crank arms (165-180mm available but most 170-175mm).

That's it. The smaller axle is referred to as GXP. It sounds like the bb you already have should fit.

It fits the frame fine just the axle on the crank doesn't fit through :-(

Yea because you currently have the bb30 crank not the GXP, easy to identify as the axle is black on the bb30 and silver on the GXP. Keep your bb, that is correct but you need a new chainset as the axle is bonded to the driveside crank arm.
