I've a Altura Evo and a Gore Path and the Gore is a much nicer jacket. More consistently waterproof and more breathable. I like the Evo for communting and light duties but for hard riding the Gore will be better I think

i dont like to use a rucksack on the commute so need pockets for stuff; keys wallet sarnies etc. is there enough pocket space with the gore's. i currently use an intrepid apparel softshell and like the front pockets (as well as the rear) but its black. got knocked off last week so hunting for something brighter

I too have a Gore path jacket. It's Paclite fabric so it's 100% waterproof and impressively breathable if those are your priorities.
On the other hand I also have a Gore Phantom softshell which is extremely breathable yet 100% windproof and warm, and it's the jacket I choose 95% of the time.

On Saturday I went out in the latter for 3 hours, but eventually became too wet and wished I'd taken the waterproof option...

Pocket wise the softshell has 3 large rear pockets while the waterproof has a zipped pocket on the rear and another on the front.
