Dura-Ace bar end shifter question
Can anyone help me?
I'm struggling to fit some used Dura-Ace 9 speed bar end shifters to a set of Paul Thumbies.
I suspect the lever boss cover (part number 643 4300) has been altered, which is preventing the cable lining up properly with the fitting in the thumbie mount.
Can anyone tell me exactly how thick the standard cover is?
Before I order a new pair!
Thanks.

This is the part I'm talking about, mine appears to have been sanded down, so it's too thin to allow a smooth cable run from the shifter into the thumbie, the cable is just not quite in line.0

hmmmm, I had a problem with that part and I had to sand it down but can't remember exactly why. It was an 8speed dura-ace. let me think about it and Ill try and get back. I think it's because I tried to force it in the wrong way round
and twisted the metal which made putting it in the right way round impossible.

If i recall correctly, left and right parts are different thicknesses but will fit in each. I mixed them up and fitted them to the opposite lever, it didn't work that wau around. Fitting instructions will be available on the shimano website.0

Thanks Sandy, but both of mine are the same, and they both look to have been sanded down, so I'd just like to find out the correct thickness.0

Just taken some of these off the wife's bike to fit downtube shifters... a fraction over 4mm on the surround - add 1mm if you're taking into account the raised central bit in the "top view" from your photos. Hope that helps...0

Thanks rnath, that confirms mine are too thin.0
