How to prevent light bracket rubbing on handlebar?
Hi guys. I have recently bought some nice 3T handlebars for my good bike and I am worried that the brackets for my light will rub some of the paint off as it has done on my training bike. It is a Lezyne Power Drive which has a basic plastic band bracket that screws tight. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas or tips on what I could put on the inside of the plastic bracket to stop it rubbing the paint off? Cheers.

I use electrical insulating tape on the bars - the bracket goes on over that.
It's stretchy, sticks without adhering, and it's 60p a roll from Wickes. It's also what I use to protect the frame from Crudguard stay mounts. Is the gorilla tired yet?0 -

^-^ Same as for mine bought the black stuff and it works a treat you'd never know it was on therePain hurts much less if its topped off with beating your mates to top of a climb.0 -
either electrical tape or a bit of inner tube if you dont want any sticky residue on your bars once you remove the tape0

Or helicopter tape if you have that already for frame protection duties.
Heat with a hairdryer to get it nice an pliable.Yellow is the new Black.0 -
Yup - insulting tape all the way. Also use it around the seat post to stop the rear light bracket from rubbing. And helmet straps to stop them flapping around. And as rim tape.
Myriad of uses that stuff and all at next to nothing to buy.0 -
I put a couple more turns over the insultation tape for the handlebar tape finishing and mount the lights on there - one on each side. I find the extra give with that amount of tape and bar tape under the light mount gives a more solid mount anyway and obviously cannot mark the bars. Obviously, that assumes you are going conventionally close enough to the stem to have the lights where they don't get in the way.Faster than a tent.......0

As mentioned above, try electrical tape or a rubber shim/inner tube. I used a fabric plaster when I had a similar problem. Didn't rub the bar and gave a bit more grip of the bracket.Ghost Race 5000 (2011) Shimano 105 Black
