i want to ask probably a very silly question about the pedals on my bike
they are Shimano R540 SPD-SL now i have a few questions
DSC00287_zpscd228e20.jpg

1-if i buy a pair of shoes to fit what shoes do i need to go for or does it not matter bout shoes only the cleats and type?
2-do i get the cleats with the shoes and what type of cleats do i need to fit?
3-are most cleats compatible with most shoes

im thinking of buying a pair of shimano shoes ..........thanks for the replys in advance as uve probably gathered im a bit confused with the whole shoes thing and fittings ect :?

You need SPD-SL cleats and the shoes need to be able to accept them.

They are a 3 hole fixing in a triangle. Most road biased shoes will have this fitting, but just double check.

The yellow have the most float (probably best to get those) and the other colours get progressively more fixed.

There are other types of cleat e.g SPD/Look/Speedplay etc. so you need to ask to make sure when getting shoes.
    Yellow is the new Black.

The cleats should really come with the pedals if new.

As already mentioned, you need road shoes with the 3 hole fixing and SPD-L cleats
