Sensible wheel upgrade for Giant Defy 2

As the title suggests, I'm looking for some better wheels for my Defy 2. I can't afford to get another bike and to be honest, I doubt that anything else will make much difference until I'm way better than I currently am.

Most reviews and chat I've had with people in the know suggest that a wheel upgrade for bikes at this level is the most sensible thing to do that would make the biggest difference. So, bearing in mind this is a mid-level bike, can I get a decent set of wheels for no more than £150-200 that will be better then what's on it currently? I'm guessing weight and quality of components is the key.

Mavic aksiums are around that price and a good upgrade

If you don't clock in 10,000 miles per year, they should last a bit...

Kyseriums in the sales. Or Cosmic Elites in the sales.

Thanks for the advice. The Planet X ones look like they fit the bill but will keep a look out for others
  • American Classics - Victory 30's. lightweight and robust. Excellent climbers!
  • I put some of Giant's P-SL1 wheels on my Defy. The main reason was that the dont stand out too much as the branding matches the bike so I thought they'd be less of a target for thieves. I've been very impressed with them so far - they seem to be pretty bomb proof and a good upgrade on the standard wheels. I also managed to find them for £170 which I thought was a bit of a steal.
