2013 Giant Defy 1 vs 2 vs 3

Hi, recently i've decided that I'd like to buy a road bike. I went into a bike shop the other day and when I asked about the difference between the Defy 1 and 2, I was told that "The Defy 2 is at one of those price points where it's worth upgrading, because you get so much more for the extra £200". They then went on to say that "The Defy 3 is at a price point where it is not worth paying for the next model up, because you don't get much for the extra cash".

Firstly, do you guys agree with this?
Secondly, does this mean that if I decide that I cannot afford the Defy 1, I should buy the Defy 3 rather than the Defy 2?

    The defy 1 has a press fit bb which stiffens up the Bb area considerably. It also has a composite seat post rather than alloy and of course 105 shifters over tiagra. As I don't like white bikes I went for the new for 2013 defy 0 which is not really worth the extra £200 to be honest over the defy 1 but I knew I could not love a white bike. If that doesn't bother you then Chris at Chris's bikes in girton,cambs will do you one for £899, only £100 more than the 2. No brainer really.

    I've just bought the Defy2, and it is a fantastic bike,ok yes I would have liked the 1 but didn't want to wait to save a little more money so I plunged for the 2 of which I do not regret. The defy2 was priced @ 799 but got it for 700, the defy1 is @ 999 I think,but what you got to remember your LBS know they will sell the defy's without any probs,so you gotta be careful that any offer you make them isn't deemed insulting. But I think you won't regret the defy2
