Do you think that anyone will actually fit this superb groupset to a bike, or will buyers just keep it in the box as an "investment"? It looks good enough to frame and hang on a wall

Most of them will probably go to rich collectors. Probably not a terrible investment if past Campag anniversary stuff is anything to go by.
What I want to know is, where are the hubs?! They give you a bottle cage but no hubs. What's the world coming to?
(Saying that, what Campag should really do is issue some new silver hubs. If the used market is anything to go by they could be popular.)0 -
It does look very 8) but I imagine many will only ever be seen like this and not used"Arran, you are like the Tony Benn of smut. You have never diluted your depravity and always stand by your beliefs. You have my respect sir and your wife my pity"

Love SR but that logo looks grim.0

Like all these things, you need to wait 30 years to get your money back (if you don't use it) and you only make a little profit if you end up with a low serial number... for some reason people think that number 0001 is much better than number 1009. Once used it has little commercial valueleft the forum March 20230

I wouldn't say it has little commercial value once used!0

And of course, the old ones that do have the value have the value because most were used anyway. In the 80s, few people would have been daft enough to secrete an unused SR groupset away for £30 years in order to sell it at about the same amount it was originally worth accounting for inflation. I daresay 90% of the 80th anniversary sets won't be used so they will struggle to maintain their value.
You'd probably do better leaving your money in a current account!Faster than a tent.......0 -

Then don't say it... I would say it instead...
Modern equipment is not as durable, therefore something used has not much valueleft the forum March 20230
