Hi,

I want to change my bar tape and brake hoods from white to celeste green on my bianchi. The bar tape is easy to find but I cannot find celeste hoods anywhere online! Does anyone know where I can buy celeste campag power shift ergo hoods?

Thanks

Hudz do them. However, from what I understand, you are better off sticking to Campagnolo ones for fit and durability. Black on green tape will probably look better than green on green anyway.

  • Thanks.

I have taken the white tape and hoods off and the bike actually looks pretty neat by just seeing the black bars and brakes, so I think I will get black tape and hoods instead :)

  • Hi,

Cycleurope, Bianchi's importer have them in their catalogue (http://www.cycleurope-uk.co.uk/pdfs/BIA ... GLOBAL.pdf - Page 39) so in theory you should be able to order them from the Bike Shed in Exeter, or any Bianchi dealer for that matter.

As nice as the white bar tape looks, I too am going to swap it for black but with Celeste hoods and - so as not to infringe the Rules - will swap the seat at the same time for black, but want to get some use out of my current one first.

I was stopped at a feedstation on a Sportive once - there were about 9 bikes in a row. It was a pretty even split between white and black bar tape. All the black taped bikes looked really smart - all the white taped bikes looked shabby bar one - just because of the tape. I think green wouldn't be that much better than white.

Obviously,I know that my black bar tape that's been on the bike for 7000 miles without cleaning is probably harbouring Norovirus and Birdflu but it still looks the same as it did when new which is the main thing!

  • As an owner of a Bianchi sporting Celeste bar tape I can vouch for the huge effort in trying to keep it clean and even then it does not look as smart as my other bike sporting black tape which I never clean. White tape or light coloured tape is just not practable.

Me too. Standard black Shimano hoods and black bar tape. Five and a half years of use and it still looks smart. Close inspection shows up some minor nicks and tears, and it's a bit shinier on the bits I use the most, but it still looks fine overall.

Judging by the state of my mitts and the frequency with which I have to wash them, they are quite effective at keeping the bar tape clean.
