What do people reckon?
Both are carbon and comfort orientated and I'm looking for a Sportive bike which is beyond my talent, both are. The Cannondale is £1500 reduced from £2000 and the Trek is £1800. Both are awesome but which one?

Can you test both?
If not it's a little 'finger in the air' stuff.
Both would certainly be fine, but it's all about fit and feel.Yellow is the new Black.0 -

Hi, hoping to road test both this week. I'm intrigued by the Domane frame but heard good things about the Synapse. Can't slide a piece of paper betwen them.0 -
You will when you ride them, I'll wager you will gravitate naturally to one over the other, once you have experienced both.
Let us know how you get on.Yellow is the new Black.0 -

I purchased a 2012 Synapse carbon with shimano 105 from Stiff in Summerbridge about three weeks ago and I'm very pleased with it. I looked at lots of bike and when I saw the Cannondale on the Stiff website I went up for a look and a ride. I had to buy it once I rode it as it was so good and at £1100 it was a bargin.0

Lovely weather rolling in tomorrow so off to Evans to try out the bikes. I'll let you know the outcome. At the moment the Synapse has the edge - only because it has better livery!!!0

A friend of mine tried the Damane and reckoned it was very comfortable but he found it very unresponsive and hard work on climbs - he has two other Treks by the way. He's a really good climber and generally stays seated and climbs with a very high cadence.
I've an 08 Synapse and it's a little flexy, but very comfortable. The geometry really suits me though and if I stay seated it climbs well. I think the newer model will be much stiffer than mine as it's got a tapered headtube and the seat tube design is much improved. Just a word of warning with the latest Cannondales, get the dealer to grease the BB30 bracket as loads of last years models turned up at dealers without sufficient grease and creaked after a couple of hundred miles. Obviously the dealer should know this but mention it anyway.0 -

Well decision made and it's the Cannondale.
The Domane felt heavy but not in a bad way, solid and predictable. The frame was interesting and a little off putting to be honest, throw it into a corner and you get a little jitter which is more in my head than the bike. The Dale was lite on it's tyres and felt a little more responsive, and a little unpredictable. Both did feel that they smoothed the road without losing touch. I'm not used to carbon and maybe the carbon absorbs a few more bumps, but both were pretty smooth. There are some roads around Ayr that would really test that but I had to do the test drives at Braehead.
To be honest both are better bikes than I am a cyclist and both offer me the challenge of living up to the expectations of the bike. In the end it's probably down to that illogical connection you have or don't have with a car or a bike, and the Synapse is gorgeous and as a benefit, cheaper than the Domane.0 -
You made a very good decision there.
