Replacement chainrings - Deals or alternative makes?

Hi,

Its high time I replaced my chainrings. However....they're really expensive! I only have a 9 speed Tiagra 4550 set up but its seems cheaper to buy a whole new chainset then replacement 50-34 rings. Does anyone know of any deals or good value/good shifting alternatives to the shimano rings?
