Hi All,
a quick question on behalf of a friend of mine. He has an I-phone and would like to start collecting GPS, heart rate and speed data for training purposes. He has cycled for years but only ever trained using the cycling weekly millage charts... I'm trying to convert him to the joys of using 'sportracks training load'...
I personally use an Edge 500 with speed cadence and HRM. Money is abit tight for everyone at the moment and said friend wants to keep cost down as much as possible so is wondering about using an ANT dongle and battery pack thingy for his Iphone.
Does anyone have experience of doing this? what is the battery life like? or is it worth just commiting the extra dollar and getting a garmin? is there another adequate economical option (bryton??) that would give useful training data that could be uploaded to sportracks??
cheers,
O

I use strava on my iPhone for 6 hour rides and it's fine.
I don't record the HR though.
It's all very well having the data but only if you know what to do with it and how to handle it.
I know data junkies who won't ride if their garmin is broken. They log the data religiously but never get any better as they just don't ride enough.
If he wants to use his iPhone it won't cost anything. Try that before forking out for a garmin ?0
