Could someone who has better knowledge than me if a pair of Mavic Aksiums will be much better than the wheels that come on a 2013 Defy Composite 3? Pretty sure i am going to order the Defy tomorrow and i already have a set of Mavic Askiums and wondered if it was worth putting them on the Defy or are the Giant wheels on the Composite as good.

In reality only you can decide that and seeing as you already own the wheels there is a simple answer.
When you get your new bike try it with both sets of wheels and see which ones you prefer.
I suspect it will come down to which ones look the best on the bike.0 -
Hi Thats a good idea. Never been the brightest spark :-) Just wondered if anyone knew how good these wheels were considering I would be paying over £1000 for the bike. Look wise its a no brainer.0

The PR2s are supposedly around 1900g - http://forums.roadbikereview.com/giant/giant-road-wheelsets-info-weights-263876.html
I can vouch for the fact they're bombproof.. but they're definitely not light!0 -
I recently got a tcr comp 3 with the pr2 wheels. I went back to the LBS to ask exactly the same question, as they had a new pair of mavics up on the wall and I fancied buying them. They told me to go away as it would be a waste of my money, and were no better. Thats honesty for you! Didnt even force me to more expense.
He also said the rims on the pr2 would be more durable and are decent wheels.
Saying all that, i have swapped mine for some hanbuilts with ultegra hubs which I love and already had.0 -
That is honesty and my type of LBS :-) I already have a set if Mavic's with only 50 miles use. If Giant wheels were as good i was thinking of selling them and probably get £120 ish which would soften the cost of the Comp 3 lol0

Nice bike by the way, the Giants look good in white, have you ordered it yet?0

Yes ordered it today and LBS has managed to get one in for Wednesday. I am so looking forward to getting it :-) You also have a great bike. I do like the Giant frames.0

Let us know how you get on. I would love to see some photos of it on the 'Your Road Bikes' forum when you get it.0
