I am thinking of doing an off road duathlon. Probably the clumber park one in march.

Whats the fastest tyre for my specialized rockhopper (26 inch wheel) that still has a bit of grip. I was considering kenda small block eights.

Any suggestions?

  • Racing Ralph Evos. I loved my SB8's but the Ralph's are considerably quicker and much grippier off road in wetter conditions. On dry ground the performance evens out but the Ralph's are still quicker and better all round in my onion.

How much grip? Furious Freds are fantastic and based on the off road triathlons I've done, would be fine.

Currently rating maxxis high rollers on my susser. Wet or dry they seem a good all rounder.

Even the eXCeption version is over 500g though, not a particularly fast tyre, Ralph/Fred combo would probably get my vote unless it's rocky. Fred's are perfectly good on the back and a whisker over 300g.
