Quite interesting.

Freibe just pointed out it talks about "formidable climber and doper in Denis Menchov"

    ^Quality :)

McRae's an idiot who knows nuffink about cycling. However Froome comes across very well in that interview, have to say, maybe best one with him that I've read for a while.

I hope Menchov sues, mainly because I'd love to see how he defends himself against the accusation.

It's been changed, doping bit has been removed.

So Menchov still hasn't been caught. Thought things had changed after 2008. How many more are there?

Who was it that actually made the accusation then, Froome or the Grauniad?

If they don't remove the climbing bit, I'll be suing! Reckon I'll have the better chance of winning.

    Grauniad

    Probably just a typo then.

Now this would make the whole statement a complete work of fiction.

Was it perhaps this? Was there something that we didnt know about the Silent Assassin, when we thought that he was just giving a team mate a helping hand up a hill?

Poper? I've never understood his nickname of The Pope, but it's probably just a play on that. Definitely not doper.

It comes from his reputation for crashing a lot. Like the Pope, he's always kissing tarmac.

It was a Eurosport viewer that made it up. On one of those dull flat stages, Harmon asked people to e-mail in new nicknames and that was the winner.

  • Good to hear a reasoned account from Froome rather than his mrs fanning the flames over twitter. Team sky have just tweeted a piece in which Wiggins says he and froome have a healthy relationship, seems like some discussions must have taken place at camp recently.

Don't think they ever had a bad relationship to require a meeting...
We're in danger of confusing passion with incompetence

  • True, perhaps not a heart to heart but it does sound like roles and plans for the season have been finalized given they are both singing of the same hymn sheet.

    Ah, that's right. Thanks Rich.
