Boardman vs canyon

Hi,
Looking for a little advice please.
My wife currently has a carrera virtuoso and is looking to upgrade. Initially was keen on the boardman fi road comp.
But whilst at the bike show at the weekend we spotted the canyon roadlite al 6.0.
I have a Canyon mtb, which is a amazing bike, but dont have much experience with road bikes and specs and would appreciate opinions between the two bikes, also the fact that one is woman specific.
Im aware of the issues of buying a bike from a web based company! Also Halfords!!
The roadlite does look nice in white and appears a light bike as well.

Canyon road bikes get very well reviewed, and are excellent value for money. The AL 9.0 was Road.cc 's bike of the year.
I know a couple of people who own them, and love them to bits. Women's specific is a bit of a tricky one - most women can fit a "mens' bike.
The Canyon bike fit process asks questions about gender and has a set of measurements to take, that should get you a reasonable idea of fit.0 -
Thanks.
I have compared the geometry between the bikes and to be fare theres not much between them.
Have always been a bit sceptical about female geometry bikes.0 -
I purchased a Boardman Hybrid Comp for Halfords last year just to make sure this mountain biker
liked riding on the road, and I do. I would never, ever buy I bike from Halfords again, no matter how
good or how cheap.0 -
Canyon is direct sale and their service in the UK is patchy at best. I wouldn't let Halfords put you off as a comparison, neither compare to a good LBS.
I've a Canyon which I love, they are great bikes for the money. The new boardmans look very good, I think canyon just pp them in value for money stakes but there isn't much in it.0 -
I think Canyon have recognised some of the service issues - they've just expanded their UK support operation.0

I'd get the canyon, much better spec! The Boardman just seems a mix of cheap components and it comes from halfords!0

I have had dealings with Canyon customer services before so this dosen't put me off buying direct, also with halfords I know to fully check the bike over before riding!
I know its no substitute for buying from a LBS. But these seem to be better deals than my LBS can offer.
So looks like the Canyon roadlite may be the better purchase?0 -
I have had the roadlite al 6.0 for 7 months now and my GF owns the boardman fi comp. Without being biased, its clear that the canyon is a much better deal (build quality, components etc). The complete 105 group makes a massive difference.
All parts of the bike comes with better gear. e.g. GP-4000 types, Mavik wheels, Ritchley stem / bars..etc etc
As a side note, I went up a size compared to what their calculator suggested and the fit is perfect.0
