The fatter the better and don't pump them up rock hard. Slick or tread doesn't matter either.
Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..
  • thanks, conti 4 seasons in 25 any good?

That's what i use and I am happy. If that makes any difference.
Anecdotal evidence. A few weeks ago 6 of us were out and it was icier than expected. Only one never had an off. Guess who? :P
Last week I set off from the office in cold but doable conditions. But that was city centre. 2 miles out I hit a 2 mile stretch of pure snow & ice on an often busy road. I was a complete nervous wreck by the end but the tyres never stepped out once.
None of the above should be taken seriously, and certainly not personally.

daviesee - I've seen them on wiggle for a pair inc inner tubes for £72, worth a punt?!

You may be able to get them cheaper but with the convenience factor (account already set up) and the inner tubes, that's how I replaced my last set.

I bought a pair on Saturday from http://www.bike-discount.de/shop/m77/k373/continental.html?od=&ft=1 for just under 60euros (can't remember delivery cost c5euros I think). Used the website before, and recommend them.

I had one of them red bikes but I don't any more. Sad face.
