no contest in my opinion, the wiler all day long. There are too many treks about, and the wiler is more unique and special in my eyes.
This is the reason why I went for a Moda, as back then you just didnt see any others on the road. I have a wiler XP at the moment, and it is a real nice machine.

I have a Wilier Izoard XP so completely biased. I love it. More bike than I need. I'd be tempted to try an get one second hand thats in good nick. I think that waay you can spend the rest of the money upgrading wheels or groupset.
As an alternative - a quick search on Ebay found thishttp://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2012-Wilier-Zero-7-Lampre-/170977757114?pt=UK_Bikes_GL&hash=item27cf1187ba

Ignore this ebay auction it looks well dodgy^^^

    A Zero7 frame set is £3500.
Not sure how they can sell a complete bike with dura-ace (£1800) and zipps (£600) for only £1200 !!!
Something not right about that listing.
Check out sellers other items, manly crockery and china items.
But also some nice bikes and guitars all at £1200.
    ????

If true you may want to look at some of the other bikes the seller has to offer, including 4 Dogma2's, 3 S-works Venge and a SuperSix team edition all at £1200.

Anyway back on to OP question.
    Buy the Wilier.

Would trust that about as far as I could throw it. Which would be quite a long way if that were genuine, come to think of it.

Very strange, the seller has removed over 200 items. Including all the bikes, guitars and musical instuments.

    Only the crockery left.

    Buy the WILIER.

Biased also as I have an izoard XP, love it and so do others who see it.

I considered the Trek as it got great reviews but how could I spend so much money on something so bland? It's like a Ford focus, ticks all the boxes but uninspiring.

I have a 2012 madone 3.5 and think its good. Can't comment on wilier but if one of the posts compares the trek with a ford focus: ie works all year round then maybe the wilier = Alfa romeo. Good for 10 mins then bits fall off and doesn't work
    2016 diamondback heist 2.0
    2015 giant propel advanced 1
2015 Genesis day one disc ss
    2014 giant roam 2
  • I had a head on with a car on my XP in May 2011. The bike came away intact (unlike the front wheel) and it's done thousands of miles since. It's a very strong frame. Make sure it's wearing Campagnolo ;-)

What about the Giant TCR Composite 1? Looks good and has full Ultegra Spec for around the same price!!
  • thanks everyone for all the advice!

Just found a Fluro from Germany for about £1100 which seems like a great deal
