A friend said he used GT85 on all things metal on his road bike and then wipes off, he said helps lube and displaces water and reduces rust

I swear by it - especially with wet days like these. Also after washing bike a misty spray over the frame stops dirt sticking.

its got Teflon PTFE is leaves a barrier (unlike WD40) but I put something a bit thicker on the chain as the links need something stronger then GT85.

Oh and don't get it anywhere near the brakes or rims

if you applied enough to displace water that snuck into the gaps between plates/rollers you'd go through a *lot* of gt85

the solvents will also displace or degrade the chain lube, which is what you want to stay put, the chain lube will also be doing a perfectly good job of stopping corrossion

keep the chain/etc. correctly lubed, wipe with cloth after a wet ride, no rust
my bike - faster than god's and twice as shiny

^ good point ! it will flush out your grease so don't go near hubs or BB's either !

Its 90% solvent with a little lube, fine for cleaning stuff but steer clear of bearings and drivetrain unless planning to relube.
Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..

I spray it over all metal parts to stop rust, but avoid chain, bearings etc as it will drive out grease and lube.

Perfect for this time of year. I thoroughly clean the bike once a week anyway, but it helps keep the rust and seizing situation down to a minimum.

    And it smells lush.
