Hi
Has anyone had problems purchasing from the above supplier at all?
I am trying to buy a Tacx VR Turbo Trainer from them and paid by Credit Card. However, they came back to me with the following:-
"Dear Mr. XXXXX,
we thank you for your order at Bike24.
Due to requirements of our credit card acquirer we need to ask you for an image of your credit card.
Your name has to be visible. You may black out parts of the number, but please ensure that at least 4 digits remain visible. For your and our safety we have to verify that the card is actually yours in order to prevent credit card fraud.
As an alternative you can also pay by cash in advance."
Well i colour scanned the card after blanking out all but the last 4 digits, and now they have decided that this isnt good enough!!
"Dear Mr. XXXXX,
we thank you for the quick transmission of data.
Unfortunately, we need to see, that the card is physically yours, so please take a photo of it with a little bit of background (for example: while you are holding it in your hand).
Thanks for your understanding."
Frankly i feel this is a crazy request, and a photo with a background proves what??
Anyone else had any issues with Credit Card purchases with this company? I am currently looking to buy elsewhere but cant find anywhere to match the price (yet)

is it because you are called Mr. XXXXX ?
Does it match the card?Facts are meaningless, you can use facts to prove anything that's remotely true! - Homer0 -
Next request will be for you to be holding it whilst turned away from the camera, looking back over your shoulder with your finger to your lips giving a cheeky wink!0

I took my name off the email obviously. The name on the card matches the order perfectly, and i have a very unusual surname0

Well that would be better than being asked to bend over and hold the card between my ar$e cheeks!!
Hold on - maybe i should send them that straight away!!0 -
I had the same question from Bike24.de as have many others. It's just a normal security check to protect everyone.0

Germans don't like credit cards. You would be lucky to find a high street shop that accept them. Best deal with German shops online is to use PayPal. I generally do when I buy stuff over here.0

And I sympathise with their view. Credit cards are a free ticket to get into financial trouble. They should be banned as such and the balance should be paid every month to get access to credit... When I lived in Holland credit cards were automatically linked to the bank account via a direct debit and the balance was paid weekly.left the forum March 20230 -

Many thanks for the info. So it isnt just me then. Ok i've sent them the photo requested now.
Cheers guys
PS Tacx Fortius with TTS3 software ordered for £534 after converting to £ (this will vary depending on date of transaction). Bargain really. I almost went for the i-Genius at 900 Euros (£740 or so) but the TTS4 needs a higher spec computer that would have bumped the price too high after adding some upgrades to it.0 -
Maybe it's because they think you're a scouser?Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..0

I've ordered from them and had to do the same thing. It's just for fraud prevention to show you actually have the card in your possession.
I took a photo of it on my desk rather than scanning then I blacked out all but the last 4 digits and that was fine my order was promptly processed and I received it just a few days later.
Thought it was a good service and wouldn't hesitate to order again if it works out cheaper than what is available in the UK.0
