Integrated headset getting the right one.

I m looking to build up a Felt F65 frame which is very similiar from what I can see to the F55. However other than that it requires an Integrated headset (I can also see this myself) I can't really be sure which size.

Im fitting it with a Felt 1.3 HM full carbon fork, which I will use a bung for. I take it nothing about the fork really matters (other than it being 1 1/8th steerer) with regards to the headset. this is dictated by the frame.
The fork does have a sticker on it saying it 700c (wheel size obviously) and 50 offset ?

I ve "roughly measured the bottom and top of the steerer tube with venier calipers (old and rusty) and I make it to be 41 mm top and bottom.

I take it that means I need a 1 1/8th integrated headset with bearing races which are both 41 mm each.

Does that sound right as I know 41/41 is a pretty standard size?

Great shout , unfortunatley cant find my frame model on there and its thrown me into further confusion by making me doubt my own measurements.

Felt recommend these ones Here, though it looks like they stopped making F65s a few years ago.
Or ring a dealer and ask!

Nice one thanks for that Stef. Thats pretty close to the measurements I came up with using the Cane Creek site to show me how to measure it correctly. but then when I put my own measurements in their site manually to find a headset it stated they didnt do one like that. Inaccurate measurement on my behalf I reckon.

I ll use the markings on the bearings pictured its just the 45 degree bit that foxes me because of the 50 degree offset marking on the fork does anyone know if thats relevent. The bikes a 2006 which a mate of mine who does classic car restorations has tig welded for me where I broke it between the seat stay and chainstay many years ago. I challenged him that it couldnt be welded, looks like he's done a brilliant job and as I picked up the fork for just £12 (full carbon) off flea bay and I ve got a spare gruppo lying around it would be rude not to test his welding prowess.

Using the dimension from the bearings in the link from Stef and plugging them back into the cane creek website I ve pressed the button on this.

Doubtless soon to be seen in the road parts sale section of this forum. I ll let you know how I got on.

I would have thought the marking on the fork was the rake.

Offset Rake is it not just about the same thing? I thought however a typical road bike rake was 70 to 73 degrees thats why I thought the offset was something totally different as it was so low at 50.

But then when I think about it they are almost straight blade forks and the offset is the difference between the centre line of the fork steerer and the wheel axle and therefore it wouldnt take much in terms of mm for this to change from 50 to 70 degrees.

Just goggled it and yer offset and rake are the same thing , my confusion comes from my days of Motorcyling when the rake was the fork angle from the headtube not the differentation between its centre line and the axle.

Therefore I cant see how this measurement has any effect at all on the headset as the frame dictates this. The interface at the crown and the steerer tube will be the same 45 degrees and 45 degrees , makes sense and I m ashamed to say I teach maths occasionally.
