What Grease Weldtite vs Park Tool

Hi all

im in need of your help and advise again LoL

my bike pedals are starting to feel tight when you spin them and my headset is just starting to make a tiny gritty sound when i turn my handle bars

so its my first time buying any grease and from what ive seen review wise the park grease and the weldtite grease get lots of good feedback

Either are fine, but can usually get a tub of teflon grease for the same price.

Used Weldtite for a while and its fine I would go for whichever is cheaper. I am currently using a tube of Rock and Roll super web which is very sticky and washout resistant but is eye wateringly pricey, only got it to make an order up to £50 and get free delivery.

Sonic where do you get a tub of teflon grease from for the same price had a google but not brought anything up.

Go to your local car spares shop and get a big tub of teflon grease. It's all the same, they don't make bike specific stuff.

Weldtite every time. You can get a tub of White grease for that. Park stuff is overrated, anyways.

Make sure is not lithium based though.

A lot of 'white' greases are lithium, and are not suitable for static applications or contact with some seals. Always best to check.

Understood. Yet, the TF2 Lithium white grease has anti-seize properties?

I'd stick with teflon lol. Seen so many dried out white greases, and seized parts.

So many different greases for so many different jobs. I may start using Crisp 'n Dry

Good thing about the teflon greases is that they are good allround bets for bikes, for all their applications.

I bought this Weldtite TF2 (Teflon) grease as I wanted a Teflon based product and rate Weldtite stuff. Although it is Lithium White grease it is enhanced with Teflon. I'm confused.

Off to the shops I go tomorrow.

Weldtite White Lithium grease is a good general purpose all-rounder grease that'll be fine for pedals -- the lithium is a type of 'soap' that's blended with hydrocarbon oils to make it a thicker grease. The white colour mainly helps with visibility (car mechanics use similar products, underneth a car ramp so you can see where you're putting it on a chassis). A major point is that it's very water resistant, not even a pressure washer will shift it (but ordinary greases just wash off). PTFE (Teflon in this case) is blended in and can help with lubricity for heavier or more demanding loads. White Lithium grease has been a standard lube for headset bearings for more than 30 years, and it's also suited for marine use it's so water-resistant.

... which is not what the OP was asking about. It would probably be too viscous and sticky.

But you said all purpose grease. It is not a good general purpose all-rounder grease on a bike, I was merely pointing that out.

right, this is far too confusing. I know f-all about this technical merits of varying types of grease, so for muppets like me could somebody please post a link to something that IS a good quality & value all-rounder grease for bikes?

It's really not confusing. Buy a bike specific Teflon grease. Job done, you can't go wrong
