Rear derailleur hanger

Hi all,

Had a nightmare on the bike today and bent the rear derailleur to buggery as well as snapping the hanger. Anyway I bought all the parts to change it's although the one things I'm missing is the hanger. I believe it is a dropout 167 for a giant defy bike. There doesn't seem to be many places to get this the cheapest I have found it 21.99 on eBay by wheels mtg replacement. Seems steep considering I got all the other parts today for 40 quid. Is this my only option or does anyone know where I can get this part. If not I'll bite the bullet and buy it.

Cheers

talk to your local Giant dealer.

they are frame specific and of then year specific.

    also look on BETD

Probably easier to pop down to your nearest Giant dealer (try and find a main dealer, not just a LBS who sells Giant). If you are down south Yeovil Cycles, spookily in Yeovil, or Cycle Logic in Helston, Cornwall come highly recommended. You can get patten matched hangers but it doesn't always work.

Winter - Boardman CX Team (Rival X1 Hyd)

Hangers for my Trance X were £20 each for Giant branded ones from a dealer (anodised in nice colours though) but my LBS (also a Giant dealer) had non branded ones for under £10. If you take the old one in they should be able to match it.

I'm going to start melting down my old, bent hangers to make new ones...

It's worth getting your LBS to check alignment when you fit the new one as if there was enough force to mangle the rear mech and hanger, it may have distorted the frame mount too - they can 'tweak' it with the right tool. If not, the rear mech could end up in the spokes.
Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..
