Happy New Year Folks,

Could you please throw some bikes at me that will take the above, I'm keen on a Defy 2 but unsure if they'll fit.

Thanks in advance

You'll need to look for a frame that's designed to take 57mm deep drop brakes whereas many race-oriented bikes have 49mm brakes
Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..

Winter training style such as Kenesis, Ribble etc usually come with long drop 57mm brakes. Marathon 25 is quite a wide one, similar to a racy 28mm and will easily fit any bike of that style.

Fwiw I have a Giant Defy 4 and am now running Marathon Plus 25s on Front and Back. On the rear i use something like this

However i havent managed to find anything that fits as the clearance is minimal maybe 3mm.

Are we saying the M+ 25's won't fit with the Defy specific guards?

I couldn't get Crud RoadRacer 2's to work with 25c Conti Gatorskins on my Defy Comp 2 so unless Giant specific guards completely ignore the brake area I doubt that they will work with 25c Marathons. Might be OK with 23c tyres though.

No they won,t fit. There,s almost no clearance between the tyre and fork, maybe 3mm. I have an old aluminium mudguard and am thinking of cutting away a peice to get it to fit. Will let you know how it works out. It,s amazing what you can do with a Dremel.
