Over rated by whom?
I ride a Look 565 (slightly cheaper version of the famous 585) and have to disagree. I've ridden fast bikes before but never one so comfortable. The aesthetics are good but the main reason to go for a Look is the ride quality. I intend to ride it for the life of the frame, as it is my perfect bike - I rate it that highly. Also I got the complete bike as an ex demonstrator about three years ago for £1500 - near as dam it the same as an equivalent equipped mass produced carbon Ribble at the time (not that I mind Ribble - they are relatively good value). So you can pick them (Looks) up more cheaply than you might think.'Happiness serves hardly any other purpose than to make unhappiness possible' Marcel Proust.0 -

I am a keen road cyclist riding 7k miles a year for the past 4 yrs mainly as training preparation for time trialling. I have always been inclined towards the cheapskate end of the market and the most I have ever spent on a carbon roadbike is £1500 with an extra £300 wheelset on top.
Fact is, I hanker after a top of the range road frame and can easily afford one but am worried that I would be underwhelmed with the ride experience. Or would I be blown away?
Should I get a Colnago C59?
Answers on a postcard please.
You probably won't be much faster to be honest. I think it's about ride quality really & enjoying your sport just a 'little' bit more. If you keep your road bikes a long time (like me) that helps justify it. So, yes...'Happiness serves hardly any other purpose than to make unhappiness possible' Marcel Proust.0 -
