Those who build their own wheels, do you have any recommendation for component suppliers especially carbon rims?
I ride a bike. Doesn't make me green or a tree hugger. I drive a car too.

  • You can get them direct from Taiwan, but you have to buy volume... to be hones the easiest thing is to get the Planet X ones... they are Gigantex, as used by Wheelsmith etc... half price now.
    Hubs: if you want Novatec 291/482 hubs, that go well with carbon rims, get them straight from Taiwan at BDOP Cycling. Total cycling sell them from the UK, but they cost a bit more.
    Don't use Shimano hubs with 50 mm or more rims, the flange is not suitable. If you can't find the correct drillings you want, you can buy a set of 16/24 rims and pair them with 32 holes hubs... use every other hole at the front and build the rear 2 cross drive side and radial NDS (every other hole) using a 2:1 lacing pattern, which gives you uniform tension across the wheel.
