Sizing Help Needed ASAP

In my hunt for my first roadie I came accross this bargain on chainreactioncycles. http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=95300
I saw that the only size available was 54cm which I believed was the correct size for me. I bought it instantly forgetting the sizing could be compact which I am now lead to believe it is.
I am 5ft8 and a half and according to the majority of online sizing charts the 54 would be my size.. but if it is compact then it will be way too big, right?
Basically, I have no idea if the frame is compact or not as I can't find any info on the specific model. I would phone chainreaction to ask them, but obviously they are closed.
Can anyone help me out and give me any information about the sizing of this frame? If I have got the sizing wrong I'm going to cancel the order.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Dave.

I'm 5'9 and have short legs and a long torso, so in my case a 54 cm frame is not enough and I almost always move up to a 56 cm. IF the 54 cm comes on a compact frame then you could always go to a longer stem (110-120) any longer than that then move up to a 56 with a shorter stem.0

Doesn't mention a 54 cm on this link, but the 53 and 55 cm both hav effective top tubes of his length, which if the brand is consistent, would make the 54 cm ok for you. Have you tried emailing crc?0 -

The effective top tube appears to be 558mm which I would say would be on the long side for you. Saying that however one of my bikes has an effective top tube which should be on the big side for me - however, I have put a stem of 120mm on it to increase my reach.0 -
for gods sake, go and get a proper bike fit. don't buy blind ffs.0

Don't worry about "compact" - that would only affect the seat tube length, which a lot of brands no longer use for frame size. The important size is the effective top tube, which looks to be 53.5 on this bike and should be just about perfect, unless you have legs like ET
If the size isn't quite right when you get it a bit of tweaking of the stem length to make it a bit longer/shorter should sort it.
Looks like a bargain - enjoy itIf you haven't got a headwind you're not trying hard enough0 -
Thanks guys, that's been very helpful. I would like to go and try bikes out for sizing but there is nowhere local and my budget is low.
I'm still pretty confused about the whole compact thing but I guess I'll wait till chainreaction are open and phone them.0
