Merry Christmas
One of my prezzies is the Tifosi Carbon seat post and it has a collar on it, this slides up and down the post and can be tightened with an allen key. It is shown in the pictures on some of the websites it is sold, but what is it for?
I am new to all of this and have not tried to fit it to my bike yet but was hoping to try it out boxing day.

If the collar is a snug fit over the post then it is not a clamp but a marker to remind you what height to have set it at is you remove it or raise it for some reason.http://www.thecycleclinic.co.uk -wheel building and other stuff.0

It's not a seat post clamp. You'd be hard pushed to put enough tension into that tiniest of allen keys to hold it up. Besides it doesn't fit over the frame. It's a marker. My blog: http://www.roubaixcycling.cc (kit reviews and other musings)

I agree it is a marker, no way it will fit over frame. Tried the seatpost and it is a great improvement on my old non carbon seatpost. A bargain price for great comfort.0
